Rangers general manager Jon Daniels is sticking to his club's policy of not commenting on negotiations with Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish. He did confirm that Darvish and his father have returned to Japan following their visit to Texas.
"It's best for us to just lay low," Daniels said.
After submitting the highest posting bid at just under $52 million, the Rangers have until 4 p.m. central time on Jan. 18 to get him signed. If a contract agreement isn't reached by then, Darvish would play for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters next season.
Darvish was in the Arlington area for a few days checking things out. We don't know most of the details of his visit, but we do know he got a tour of Rangers Ballpark in Arlington and apparently visited a local mall.
