SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Yu Darvish will throw one inning to hitters in Friday's intrasquad game (the third inning), but just about every pitcher in camp will have the chance to throw in games on the back field the next two days. Left-handed pitcher Joe Beimel is the exception. Here's the group throwing on Thursday:
I'll pass along Friday's pitchers on the blog later, but it will include Derek Holland, Neftali Feliz, Yoshinori Tateyama, Joe Nathan, Koji Uehara, Matt Harrison, Alexi Ogando and Mike Adams, in addition to some of the club's prospects.
* The utility infield candidates were in the same hitting group as they took hacks against some of the Rangers' pitchers (including Martin Perez) and then hit in BP. A few coaches kept a watchful eye on them during drills too. That group includes Alberto Gonzalez, Luis Hernandez, Greg Miclat and Yangervis Solarte. (For what it's worth, Gonzalez and Hernandez had some good hitting sessions).
* SS Elvis Andrus (Plantar's wart) said he didn't do much running because that wasn't part of the drills today, but he did all of the on-field activities. He'll decide after workout on Thursday if he's going to play in the intrasquad game later that day. If he doesn't, he believes he'll be ready for Friday's game.
