That's probably because the White Sox wanted Floyd to stretch out to three innings and wanted to do it more in a controlled environment, though I wonder if the fact that Chicago faces the Rangers in Texas to begin the 2012 season doesn't factor into it, either. Floyd is likely the No. 3 starter and would pitch in the Sunday night game on ESPN in Arlington on April 8.
Tommy Mendonca hit a long double off Floyd to right-center field and Brandon Snyder had an RBI single off him in Floyd's second inning of work. Floyd ended up allowing two runs in three innings with a walk and two strikeouts.
* It was mainly current minor league players in the game for Texas, though utility infield candidates Greg Miclat, Luis Hernandez and Yangervis Solarte were also in the game.
* Leonys Martin hit a triple, belting a ball to the gap in right-center in the seventh inning and racing to third.
* Mitch Stetter pitched a 1-2-3 inning and got the only left-handed hitter he faced, getting him to pop up to second.
