Injuries: Napoli out again as precaution

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Mike Napoli will miss his second straight game Sunday to rest his left groin.

Napoli was a late scratch for Saturday's game when he felt a little tightness in his groin. While Napoli likely could play through the injury, manager Ron Washington said the Rangers are taking precautionary measures so it doesn't turn into something serious. They don't need to rush him back in March.

Other injuries:

*Conor Jackson will work in the batting cages Sunday. He was hit in his left eye by a fly ball Friday. Jackson left the game and did not play Saturday. The Rangers want to make sure there's no question he can see out of his eye during the session. If all goes well in the controlled environment, he'll return to normal hitting and fielding activities.

*Craig Gentry will not play Sunday. He left Saturday's game with soreness in his hamstring. Washington said Gentry could've played, but the team will give him another day to rest his legs. He said Gentry should be back Monday.

*Brad Hawpe will play in Sunday's B game. He will play first base and bat fourth against the Kansas City Royals. Hawpe missed a few days due to a right hamstring injury.
