DETROIT -- Our weekly stock report shows a team whose value is only going up. It was tough to even find someone whose stock is sliding a bit the past week. Here you go:
Mike Napoli: The catcher came into the week hitting below the Mendoza line, but a home run Sunday in Minnesota followed by a trip to Fenway Park has him going again. He was 6-for-9 with three homers and eight RBIs in a two-game set in Boston. That's a good week, let alone a few days. And he added to it Thursday in Detroit, hitting his fifth home run in the past four games.
Josh Hamilton: He's playing like an MVP this season, and it hasn't mattered where the games are being played or what time of day. He leads the team in homers and RBIs and has shown off his all-around game, making great plays in left field and center with his glove and arm and running the bases well. Hamilton is batting .426 with five homers and 12 RBIs.
Mitch Moreland: An abscessed tooth (certainly not a pleasant thing) kept Moreland out of the lineup and hurt his ability to find a rhythm. He is hitting .130 (3-for-23, with one home run) in just seven games this season. He is expected to play tonight.
