DETROIT -- The way the Texas Rangers have started this 2012 season, there's bound to be a bunch of them in Kansas City for the 2012 All-Star Game on July 10.
Starting this afternoon, fans can vote for the All-Star squads. When the online voting is ready at www.texasrangers.com, we'll supply a link for you to vote.
Michael Young will be attempting to make his eighth All-Star team. But he's never been voted as a starter by the fans. He's on the ballot at DH this season and certainly has a chance. Young did start in 2009 when Tampa Bay's Evan Longoria couldn't play with an infected finger.
"I've always enjoyed my All-Star experiences," Young said. "It's too early to be early. The added bonus for playing on a really good team is the priority is exactly where it should be, on racking up 'Ws'"
Mike Napoli is on the ballot at catcher and his torrid week certainly should help him get some early votes. David Murphy is also on the ballot as an outfielder. Neither player was on the ballot last year.
Josh Hamilton, who is having an MVP start, is trying to make the starting squad for the fifth consecutive time.
Rangers manager Ron Washington will get a chance to fill in part of the roster in a few months as he manages the AL team for the second consecutive year.
