Matchup: Matt Harrison vs. James Shields

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Matt Harrison looks to continue his hot start against Rays ace James Shields in the series opener in Arlington. Here's the matchup:

Harrison (3-0, 1.66 ERA): Harrison has put up All-Star numbers in his first three starts, posting the American League's best ERA. He was given an 8-0 lead in the first inning of his last start, but he'll have his work cut out against a pitcher who has gone eight-plus innings in three-straight starts.

Shields (3-0, 2.76 ERA): Shields dominated the Twins in his last start, going eight innings and giving up the only run in a 4-1 victory. The bad news for the Rangers is they are hitting .212 against Shields in the last three years, the lowest average of any team that Shields has faced more than once.

Hitters: The Rays lineup doesn't have a lot of at-bats against Harrison, but Evan Longoria is 3-3 against him with a double and a home run. ... Carlos Peña is 0-4 with three strikeouts. ... Elvis Andrus is 7-12 against Shields with two doubles and two triples. ... Adrian Beltre is 8-31 with 13 strikeouts. ... Ian Kinsler, Michael Young and Josh Hamilton are hitting a combined .158 against the ace.
