He was the fourth player in the AL since 1921 with at least nine homers, 25 RBIs, 20 runs and 34 hits in April. This is the fourth time Hamilton has won AL player of the month and his second in April. He won it in April 2008, his first year with the Rangers.
Darvish, 25, was 4-0 in five starts in his first month in the majors. He is tied for the lead league in wins and has a 2.18 ERA. He became the sixth rookie starter since 1957 to win at least four games without a loss in April.
It’s the first time the Rangers have won multiple AL awards in the same month.
