Michael Kirkman battling form of skin cancer

Minor league pitcher Michael Kirkman, who plays for Triple-A Round Rock, is undergoing regular treatment for a form of skin cancer and is being monitored by doctors, the Rangers announced in a statement Monday.

Kirkman was diagnosed in January with a form of skin cancer during an examination that took place in Gainesville, Fla. He is allowed to participate in full baseball activity while undergoing the treatment, and the Rangers said the prognosis is for a full recovery.
