ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers starter Yu Darvish is among the five players in the running for the final spot on the American League All-Star squad. It will come down to whether he can garner more votes than Kansas City closer Jonathan Broxton, Los Angeles Angels closer Ernesto Frieri, Baltimore starter Jason Hammel and Chicago White Sox starter Jake Peavy.
Fans have until Thursday to vote. Click here for more information and to vote.
Darvish, 25, said Friday that he didn’t deserve to make the All-Star team, but it's now in the hands of the fans. Darvish has compiled 10 wins, the most by any rookie in the league, and has a 3.57 ERA. He’s fourth in strikeouts with 106. But he’s also third in the league in walks (50).
If he makes it, that will be eight Rangers on the All-Star team. The seven already breaks the club record of six set in 2010.
