Michael Kirkman leaves with leg injury

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Rangers left-handed reliever Michael Kirkman left Sunday's game in the top of the 10th inning with a mild left quad strain.

In a 3-3 tie against the Minnesota Twins, Kirkman scooped Joe Mauer's grounder to the right of the mound and sprinted toward first base. A couple of steps before reaching the bag he pulled up but was still able to record the first out of the inning. Manager Ron Washington and trainer Jaime Reed came out to evaluate Kirkman, who left without trying to get back on the mound.

Kirkman is the latest Rangers pitcher to go down. Relievers Alexi Ogando, Koji Uehera and Mark Lowe remain sidelined. Starters Colby Lewis and Neftali Feliz are also out.
