Rangers prospect is AFL player of the week

Texas Rangers first baseman prospect Chris McGuiness was named Arizona Fall League's co-player of the week. He joins Astros' prospect Jonathan Singleton in that honor.

McGuiness, drafted in the 13th round in 2009 by Boston and then traded to Texas as part of the Jarrod Saltalamacchia deal at the trade deadline in 2010, hit .389 (7-for-18) with two runs, two doubles, two home runs and six RBIs last week.

The 23-year-old played 123 games at Double-A Frisco last season and batted .268 with 23 homers and 77 RBIs.
