Do you have interest in David Ortiz?

According to a report by FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Texas Rangers have expressed interest in David Ortiz. Clubs can call potential free agents this week to let them know they want to chat with them, but can't talk money until after 11 p.m. central time tonight.

In Ortiz's case, that gives the Red Sox time to get a deal done. ESPNBoston.com reported Thursday that the club and Ortiz have agreement on the length of the contract (two years), but they are still talking salary. If they can't get things ironed out by 11 p.m., Ortiz can negotiate with any team. But Ortiz has also expressed a desire to return, so we'll see if the sides can make it happen.

If not, what do you think of Ortiz in a Rangers uniform? He's primarily a DH, so that would require moving some things around and deciding what to do with Michael Young. But Ortiz would help the lineup, especially if Josh Hamilton isn't back in Texas.

Ortiz, who turns 37 later this month, dealt with injury issues and played in 90 games. But he hit the ball well, batting .318 with 23 homers and 60 RBIs. He would give the club some power and production on what would likely be a short-term deal (two years, if that's what it appears it woiuld take to keep him in Boston).
