Karabell: Alexi Ogando will have big 2013

Eric Karabell, one of the fantasy sports writers at ESPN.com, posted his bold predictions for pitchers on his blog and notes his pitcher to watch for the Texas Rangers this season. His comment:

Yu Darvish will be the ace, and a Cy Young Award contender at that, but watch Alexi Ogando deliver 175 strong innings, plenty of strikeouts and an ERA of 3.25, with no second-half fade this time.

When it comes to fantasy sleepers, Ogando is a good one. In fact, I hestitate to say "sleeper," but since he's just returning to the rotation after a season in the bullpen, he should be someone of value in drafts. Ogando has the stuff to do it and his slider improved toward the end of the 2012 season (he wasn't as consistent with his command last season as he was the previous year). The last time Ogando started, he was an All-Star before hitting the wall in the second half of 2011. He now has an entire offseason to get ready. If he can show the stamina he needs, Ogando could be someone to watch this season, as Karabell points out.
