Injuries: Adrian Beltre has mild right calf inflammation

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre is not in the lineup for today's intrasquad game because of mild right calf inflammation.

Beltre had an MRI on Monday just to be sure and it showed only mild inflammation. Beltre is still participating in all activities and was in the batting cage Tuesday morning.

"If it was the regular season he could play," assistant general manager Thad Levine said. "But it's not."

So the club will be extra cautious with Beltre.

Other injuries:

* RHP Wilmer Font has right shoulder tendinitis and will not pitch today as originally scheduled. The team believes the tendinitis is mild enough that he's penciled in to throw off flat ground Wednesday to see how things feel.

* RHP Colby Lewis (torn flexor tendon surgery) is throwing from 135 feet in his long-toss sessions. After he gets to 150 feet or so for three sessions with no setbacks, he could move to a mound. That looks to be around March 1 or 2.

* RHP Neftali Feliz (Tommy John surgery) said he's throwing from 75 feet.
