Harrison (0-1, 7.94 ERA): Harrison started off well in the opener at Houston on Sunday, but walks turned a promising night into a disappointing one. Harrison retired the first nine Astros in order, picking up five strikeouts. He was hurt by an error by right-fielder Nelson Cruz, the only miscue the Rangers have made this season. Harrison walked two batters in the sixth inning and they scored on Rick Ankiel's home run off reliever Derek Lowe. Harrison allowed five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings, throwing 100 pitches. ... Harrison should be glad to be back at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, where he was 8-4 with a 3.55 ERA last season. ... He dominated in his final three home starts, going 3-0 with a 3.10 ERA. ... Harrison struggled against the Angels last season with a 1-2 record and 5.30 ERA. He has lost three of his four decisions to the Angels.

Hanson (13-10, 4.48 ERA in 2012): Hanson makes his first start for the Angels. ... He was acquired in the offseason from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for relief pitcher Jordan Walden. ... The 26-year-old right-hander from Tulsa, Okla., had 161 strikeouts last season for the Braves and averages close to a strikeout per inning. ... He walked a career-high 77 batters last season, 15 more than his previous high in 2011. ... Hanson had a 3.00 ERA in his first three seasons with the Braves, but home runs hurt him in 2012. He allowed 27 homers after averaging 14.3 home runs per season from 2009 to '11. ... Hanson has never faced the Rangers.
