Matt Harrison dealing with lower back soreness

Rangers starter Matt Harrison has been dealing with lower back soreness for two weeks. The issue continued to bother him after Saturday's poor outing against the Los Angeles Angels, and the pitcher has not participated in the club's on-field activities the past two days.

Harrison is still expected to make Thursday's start at Seattle. He is hoping to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday, though he wasn't completely confident about that after Monday's game.

"It's a day-to-day thing," Harrison said. "We'll just see how it feels."

Harrison said if he had to make his start Tuesday, he couldn't. The back soreness hasn't caused him pain when he pitches. "It's more weakness," he said.

Harrison was hit hard by the Angels on Saturday, allowing five runs in five innings. He gave up four runs in the first inning on two-run home runs by Albert Pujols and Mark Trumbo.
