Ogando to start Friday for Frisco, nears Rangers' return

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Right-handed starter Alexi Ogando, eligible to come off the Rangers' disabled list in two days, is scheduled to make a rehab start for Double-A Frisco on Friday night.

General manager Jon Daniels says the hope is to get five innings or 75 pitches from Ogando before his rotation return for the big club.

Manager Ron Washington said if all goes well, Ogando could make his Rangers return on June 7 with a start at Toronto.

The immediate rotation plan is Derek Holland in the 1:05 p.m. CT start against Arizona on Thursday, Nick Tepesch in Friday's opener of a three-game series against Kansas City, Martin Perez on Saturday and Yu Darvish, with an extra day of rest, on Sunday.

"We want to give Darvish an extra day as often as we can," Washington said.

After Tuesday's off day, the manager said the entire bullpen is available tonight.

The scheduled 7:05 p.m. start time for Rangers-Diamondbacks is delayed by rain. The tarp was removed at 6:45 p.m. and the estimate is the ground crew will need an hour to get the field ready. The bad news, another line of storms is expected later this evening.
