Ian Kinsler eyeing Sunday return

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler went through a full workout Wednesday, including batting practice, accelerating his possible return to Sunday.

Kinsler will start a three-game rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco on Thursday after coming out of Wednesday's workout in good shape and being cleared by team physician Dr. Keith Meister. Wednesday's working included turning double plays.

Kinsler will be the designated hitter on Thursday for Frisco, then play second base on Friday and Saturday.

Kinsler has been out since May 18 with a right intercostal strain. He indicated Wednesday before batting practice that he is ready to play.

"I haven't had anything physically telling my I'm not," Kinsler said. "I'm going to continue to push."
