Martin Perez has elbow surgery

Texas Rangers left-handed pitcher Martin Perez had surgery to repair the partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow Monday morning and the surgery went as expected.

Dr. Keith Meister, the team's physician, handled the procedure at Trinity Surgical Center in Arlington. Perez will begin rehab in the next few weeks.

The usual time frame is 12 to 18 months before a pitcher can return to the big leagues.

Triple Play event raises record amount: The club's annual Park Place Dealerships Triple Play Game Show Spectacular raised over $725,000, which is a record in the 12-year history of the event.

A sellout crowd of more than 600 attended at the Hilton Anatole Dallas. It's the largest fundraiser for the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation each year.
