The Texas Rangers announced Tuesday that right-handed pitcher Tanner Scheppers and outfielder Jim Adduci will start Double-A rehab assignments tonight. The RoughRiders open a homestand against San Antonio at 7:05 p.m. CT.
From the club's release:
Scheppers was placed on the 15-day disabled list April 18 with right elbow inflammation. The club’s Opening Day starter, he went 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA (20 ER/18.1 IP) in four games/starts for Texas before the current stint on the disabled list. Scheppers, who is working to return to the Rangers as a reliever, has allowed six runs (five earned) over 4.2 innings spanning four games/two starts on rehab with Frisco and Round Rock. He last appeared for Round Rock on Saturday vs. Omaha (1.2 IP, one R-ER).
Adduci was placed on the 15-day disabled list April 19 with a fractured left little finger, an injury suffered during the previous night’s game against the Chicago White Sox while sliding head-first into second base on a tag-up play. Adduci has a .462 (6-13) average in nine games with Texas this season.
