Rangers interview Jeff Banister and Joe McEwing for managerial opening

The Rangers' managerial search reached five as the team interviewed Pittsburgh Pirates bench coach Jeff Banister and Chicago White Sox third-base coach Joe McEwing on Wednesday.

Banister has been in the Pirates organization for 29 seasons. He's been the bench coach since 2010. Prior to becoming the bench coach, Banister spent eight seasons as the minor league field coordinator.

McEwing, the White Sox third-base coach the past three seasons, has spent the past seven seasons in the organization. McEwing was the Triple-A Charlotte manager until getting moved to his current role. He's also a former Carolina League manager of the year.

The Rangers have interviewed pitching coach Mike Maddux, Triple-A manager Steve Buechele and Boston Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo in addition to McEwing and Banister.

Interim manager Tim Bogar is also expected to interview soon for the vacancy.
