Weather alters pitching plans

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- C.J. Wilson won't make the trip to Maryvale after all.

Wilson, the scheduled starter against the Brewers, will throw 100 pitches against Rangers hitters in the batting cages instead. The plans changed because the weather made it uncertain that the Rangers and Brewers would play today.

Wilson was going to pitch in a minor league game this morning, but the Padres' affiliate decided to head back to Peoria instead of playing in the drizzly conditions.

The wind and rain also cut short Brandon Webb's live batting practice session after a handful of pitches. He'll probably throw live BP on Wednesday, with Tuesday an off day in camp.

The Rangers will still go to Maryvale and hope the game starts on time. Mason Tobin, Pedro Strop, Zach Jackson and some minor leaguers are scheduled to pitch.
