Marion on Miller: 'What am I gonna do?'

DALLAS -- Shawn Marion just shook his head after Andre Miller's driving hook bounced around the rim and went down with seconds remaining in regulation.

Marion wanted the challenge of defending the Miller, who carried the Trail Blazers to an overtime win by torching the Mavs for a career-high 52 points, 33 of which came after halftime. But Marion would have much preferred that he got the opportunity much earlier in the game.

"He already had 45 points. What am I gonna do?" said Marion, who got the assignment to guard Miller late in the fourth quarter. "He already got it going.

"Now it’d be different if I got on him earlier. You can’t do nothing really when someone’s got it going already. It’s too late then."

Miller hit 14 of his 16 shots from the floor in the second half. That included all four attempts with Marion defending him, highlighted by the driving hook late in regulation and a stepback 3 to open overtime.

"I played him pretty well, but once he’s got it going like that, what am I gonna do?" Marion said. "He could have thrown a hook shot from halfcourt and it would have gone in."
