Mavs manage to cling to second place

It took a miraculous comeback, but the Mavs remain in pole position for the West race for second place.

All the Mavs had to do was erase a 13-point deficit down the stretch against a team that has given them fits the last two seasons. No sweat, huh?

Mavs 106, Grizzlies 102 in overtime.

Dirk Nowitzki was a disaster for three and a half quarters. He reverted to Hall of Fame form just in time to put the smallballin' Mavs on his shoulders, as his 10-point flurry fueled the 15-2 run to send the game into overtime. Nowitzki (28 points) sizzled just as Jason Terry (game-high 29 points) cooled after keeping the Mavs from being blown out.

What a way to get win No. 50 for the 10th consecutive season, a streak matched only by the Bill Russell Celtics, Magic Johnson Lakers and Tim Duncan Spurs.

Now, the Mavs get less than 24 hours before welcoming the Orlando Magic to the AAC. Hey, nobody said claiming the second seed would be easy.
