The home of the Houston Rockets will likely be chosen as the venue for Strikeforce’s Lone Star State debut next month. The same location served as the backdrop for Matt Serra’s upset win over Georges St. Pierre at the UFC’s first event in Texas, UFC 69.

Scott Coker, Strikeforce CEO, recently confirmed that the Toyota Center, which seats approximately 18,000, will host Strikeforce: Houston scheduled for August 21. The main card bouts will air live on Showtime.

The event will be headlined by Dallas fighter Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal, who will apparently be defending his light heavyweight title against Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante.

Tim Kennedy vs. Jacare Souza and Jorge Gurgel vs. KJ Noons are two additional bouts rumored to be on the card.

A Strikeforce press conference will be held on July 13 to officially announce the event as well as several of the feature bouts.

Tickets will go on sale on July 13 for “Strikeforce Insider” e-mail subscribers and on July 15 for the general public.
