Trevor Daley just scored a beautiful goal, picking up a loose puck at center ice, skating around an Ottawa player and firing a perfect wrister over Pascal Leclaire to give Dallas a 5-3 lead in the third period.
That's the end of the day for Leclaire. He's yanked in favor of Brian Elliott after giving up five goals on only 19 shots.
Daley has been inconsistent this season, but it's plays like this that give the Stars optimism that he can still be a big-time playmaker in this league. Very few NHL defensemen have the skill to score that goal. Yet that was only his fifth goal of the season, and his minus-8 rating coming into the game is the second-worst of the Stars' defensemen.
