Texas Stars Report: A rough weekend

The past week

It was a rough weekend for the Texas Stars (1-2-0), who lost two games by a combined score of 15-3.

On Saturday the Stars lost to Houston 5-2 at Cedar Park Center. Brenden Dillon gave the Stars an early lead with a power play goal, but Houston scored five of the next six to secure the win. Richard Bachman got the start in net and allowed four goals on 31 shots. Ray Sawada also scored for Texas.

On Saturday the Stars traveled to Oklahoma City to take on the Barons, the team Texas hammered 7-0 on opening night in Cedar Park. The Barons turned the tables on the Stars, routing them 10-1. Oklahoma City scored three goals in a 1:37 span of the first to take control of the game.

Tyler Beskorowany got the start in goal and was pulled early in the second after allowing four goals on 13 shots. Bachman played the rest of the second period and allowed five goals on 13 shots. Beskorowany was back in for the third period and stopped 6 of 7 shots.

Francis Wathier scored the lone goal for Texas, which set franchise records for most goals against in a game (10), most goals allowed in a period (6) and largest margin of defeat (9).

Idaho Steelheads

The Idaho Steelheads (1-1-0) opened the season this past weekend by splitting a pair of games with Utah. The Steelheads won 4-1 in Utah in Friday and then lost 3-2 in Idaho on Saturday night. The Steelheads play three games at Alaska this coming weekend.
