DALLAS -- The Dallas Stars are now 1-5 in shootouts this season after falling the St. Louis 4-3 in a shootout on Wednesday.
Most of the time, it's the fault of the shooters. Stars shooters are 3-for-19 (15.7 percent) this season. But on Wednesday, the Stars managed to get a goal -- Brad Richards scored to lead off the shootout. But the Blues scored twice on Marty Turco to win the game.
"We put an emphasis on it in practice," James Neal said. "We have to find a way to be better and get that extra point."
Coach Marc Crawford said he's confident his team will start winning shootouts. He went with Richards first and it paid off. He chose Mike Ribeiro because he felt like he was coming on strong in the third period (I have to agree) and Ribeiro beat the goaltender, but the shot slid wide. And Stephane Robidas was third because he scored in the last shootout. He wasn't able to score, either.
