Here are some quotes following the Dallas Stars' 5-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks Monday night at American Airlines Center.
Stars captain Brenden Morrow on bouncing back after blowing a 3-0 lead
"That's hockey. If you aren't mentally tough enough to come back from that then you are in the wrong league. We've been on the other side of it and we've been able to grind it out and pull it out. We've been in that position before. You just keep plugging away and believing in what you are doing is going to pay off. There are 60 minutes for a reason and the third period has usually been our best. We knew that and we're confident in it."
Stars forward Michael Ryder on the win
"People talk about that hangover that first game back from the road. We were a little slow out of the gates but we stuck with it, we got the lead. During the game momentum changes back and forth, they managed to tie the game, but we stuck with it. I think we had a great third period and came up with two points, which is huge."
Stars coach Glen Gulutzan on the team scoring two power play goals
"It was real good. We had shots and net presence and on the other one we were putting pucks towards the net and you get bounces when you do that. Rather than holding onto it, which we do a little too long, we put stuff towards the net and we got rewarded on carom and some net presence on the other."
Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau
"We’re all part of the team. Whether it’s the coaches or everybody, we’ve got to take responsibility for this. We just have these breakdowns. We can look so good for short periods of time or even longer periods of time and then all of a sudden, we get out of the gameplan. I haven’t figure it out yet but whether the focus is lost or we get too emotionally involved with something else or what have you, it’s definitely something that’s not the straightaway. It’s like two different teams five different parts of the game."
