Playoff watch: Coyotes' impressive run continues

The Phoenix Coyotes continue to roll. The Coyotes beat Vancouver 2-1 in a shootout last night to improve to 11-0-1 over their last 12 games. The Coyotes now have a five point lead over the Stars in the Pacific Division.

A couple of the Stars’ other Pacific Division foes won last night as well. San Jose beat Philadelphia 1-0 to stay two points behind Phoenix and pull three points ahead of the Stars. The Sharks have one game in hand on both teams.

Los Angeles beat Minnesota 4-0 to pull even with the Stars and Colorado at 70 points. The Stars continue to hold down eighth place because they have played one fewer game than both the Los Angeles and Colorado. The Stars also have more regulation/overtime wins, so even if the games played and points were even, the Stars would own the tiebreaker.

The Stars have a chance to keep the pressure on the teams below them by getting points against Pittsburgh tonight.

Chicago, which is in seventh place and three points ahead of the Stars, plays Toronto tonight.
