About the Stars

The Stars (34-26-5) improved to 5-0-1 over their last six games with a 3-1 win at Edmonton Friday to open their three-game road trip through Western Canada. The Stars scored three goals on just 15 shots and goaltender Kari Lehtonen stopped 19 of 20 shots.

“It was a good start to this road trip,” said Stars defenseman Sheldon Souray. “We didn’t paint a Picasso, but we were strong when he had to be and we got the two points. Our goalie was good. We needed this win.”

The Stars improved to 6-1-2 over their last nine games.

Lehtonen will start Sunday’s game.

Injuries: LW Toby Petersen (personal), LW Jake Dowell (finger) and LW Brenden Morrow (neck/back) are out.

About the Flames

The Flames (29-25-11) lost 3-2 in Anaheim Friday. Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf scored the game-winning goal with 40 seconds remaining in the game.

"Really unacceptable with where we're sitting right now,” Flames forward Mike Cammalleri said.

Calgary, which is 1-4-1 over its last six games, is four points out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Miikka Kiprusoff is expected to start in goal for the Flames.

Goaltender Leland Irving, who made 38 saves in Friday’s loss to Anaheim, was assigned to Abbotsford of the AHL on Saturday.

Injuries: C Mikael Backlund (arm), D Chris Butler (leg), C Blair Jones (ankle) and RW Lee Stempniak (ankle) are out.
