Stars center Brad Richards had arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip on Friday. Richards said he's in New York right now rehabbing after surgery. He expects to begin training in five weeks and return to his full offseason program in 8 to 10 weeks.
The surgery was to ease some pain he felt in the hip during the season and to take care "of some maintenance" to guard against the injury turning into anything bigger.
"[I] had some time so I got it done," Richards said via text on Monday.
Richards, who turns 30 in May, led the Stars with 91 points, including 67 assists. He had 13 power play goals.
