Stars sign Wathier to extension

The Stars announced Wednesday that right wing Francis Wathier has signed a two-year, two-way contract extension through the 2011-12 season. The NHL portion of the contract is worth $550,000 the first year and $600,000 the second.

The 25-year-old made his NHL debut with the Stars last season and had four shots and five penalty minutes in five games with Dallas. He spent most of last season with the Texas Stars, Dallas' AHL affiliate, totaling 4o points (including 19 goals) in 76 games with 101 penalty minutes. He played in 24 playoff games with Texas, which made the Calder Cup Finals, and had eight points.

Wathier was drafted in the sixth round, 185th overall, in the 2003 NHL draft.
