Clearly there is still a market for 40-year-old Mike Modano. He said Friday that San Jose and Minnesota have contacted him. It's in the early stages, but the Wild expressed an interest in meeting with him at some point. No date has been set on that. You can read the complete story here.
Modano said he still has to decide whether or not he wants to put up with all that's entailed in playing in the NHL for another season. And I really do think he's undecided at this point. He's intrigued by the Red Wings' situation, but will listen to what other teams have to say.
I think it's good that Modano has some offers. I know many of you don't want to see him in another uniform and I'll admit that I can't imagine would that might be like. But if he wants to play again and feels he can (and another team feels he can still contribute), he has every right to do so. The Stars decided they were moving forward without him. It's not like Modano would be leaving the Stars.
Anyway, I don't think he'll make a decision any time soon. He still needs to process things and figure out what he wants to do.
