Ribeiro released from hospital

Stars center Mike Ribeiro was sent to a New York hospital after sustaining a neck injury against the Rangers. According to Stars communications director Rob Scichili, Ribeiro was thoroughly examined and later released. As a precaution, he will remain at the team hotel and fly back to Dallas on Thursday.

Ribeiro is expected to be fine, Scichili said the doctors just wanted to be sure he was OK.

Ribeiro suffered the injury when he was high-sticked by Christopher Higgins in the Stars' 5-2 loss. Replays appeared to show Higgins never saw Ribeiro, who skated right by him. The stick went into Ribeiro's throat and face, underneath his visor.

Ribeiro, 29, has 10 goals and 23 assists for the Stars this season.
