Rangers' Derek Holland drops puck at AAC

Texas Rangers pitcher Derek Holland dropped the first puck at tonight’s Dallas Stars-Nashville Predators game at American Airlines Center.

The Rangers, who are heading to the World Series after knocking off the New York Yankees in the American League Championship series, were a topic of conversation at the Stars skate Saturday morning.

“I think it’s great. The whole city, possibly the state, is alive right now,” Stars coach Marc Crawford said. “It’s such a positive things for sports in the area. The Rangers have been a great story and we can take a little bit from them because I see a lot of similarities. They are a young developing team and they’ve really come together as a group. We want to make sure we have a hard-working, a group that is developing and that continues to improve. I think those attributes are definitely attainable for our group.”

Stars defenseman Mark Fistric was among the 51,404 at Friday night’s series clinching game at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

“It wasn’t just fun to watch, it was very motivating,” said Fistric. “It was awesome to just see them all pile onto each other and celebrate. It definitely puts the winning spirit into you.”
