OK, the Stars are embarking on a crucial three-game road trip through Chicago (tonight), Calgary (Thursday) and Phoenix (Saturday). It's big because the team sits in 10th place in the Western Conference and wants to make up some ground before the two-week Olympic break. Mike Modano called it the "DEFCON 1" trip and several players talked about how they needed to do something now to set themselves up for March. Brenden Morrow didn't even want to talk about the Olympics on Monday, shifting the conversation to the final three games.
BTW, Andrew's Stars Page looks at the upcoming trip and also has the updated glance at the points race and how things might shake out as we head into the stretch run. He notes the Stars' points pace has increased slightly. They'll need to keep it going if they want to get that eighth and final spot.
So let's predict how the Stars might do this week. They have six points possible. And I think they are playing well enough and starting to grab some confidence that even with Steve Ott and Mark Fistric out, the Stars can get four of six points. I think they get a point tonight in Chicago, beat Calgary and get a point in Phoenix.
Your thoughts? How many points do the Stars get this week?
