The Dallas Stars have called up forwards Aaron Gagnon and Francis Wathier from the Texas Stars with Adam Burish and Brian Sutherby both banged up as the team gets ready to head out on a three-game road trip to Western Canada.
"Burish took a shot off the foot the other day and didn't practice today," said Stars coach Marc Crawford. "He improved immensely with the day off yesterday and hopefully he'll get the same type of improvement from not being on today. The plan is for him to skate tomorrow, but we brought up both those players and I suspect one of those players will be in the lineup."
Sutherby, who did practice today, has been playing through a sore hip.
"I'd like to play him in Edmonton, his hometown," Crawford said of Sutherby. "Hopefully he'll be ready to play. We've got both those guys there as protection."
Defenseman Matt Niskanen (hand) is getting closer, Crawford said, and will be on the trip, so the Stars will be carrying seven defensemen with them.
Crawford wouldn't reveal his goaltending rotation for the trip other than to say that Andrew Raycroft will play one of the games.
