Dallas Stars injury update

The Dallas Stars practiced today at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Frisco. Here's the latest on the team's injury situation.

Tom Wandell (shoulder) practiced today and Stars coach Marc Crawford said Wandell is closer. Wandell didn't go through full contact today, but he should go through more tomorrow.

"We're optimistic he'll be ready for Wednesday," Crawford said.

Toby Petersen (leg), Jamie Benn and Ray Sawada (shoulder) all skated after practice. None of those three has been cleared to practice with the team yet.

Among those three Petersen is the next closest to returning. He could join the team for Wednesday morning's skate prior to the Phoenix game and then start practicing with the team after that.

Still no definitive word on Benn, but it sounds like it could be at least another week or maybe two.

Crawford said Krys Barch has had surgery to repair a fractured orbital bone. Adam Burish will have surgery for the same injury once the swelling around his eye goes down, said Crawford. There is still no timetable on either of those players.

"We're optimistic that it's not going to be too long," said Crawford.

A couple of other notes:

Brad Richards and Loui Eriksson had scheduled days off.

Jamie Langenbrunner was off as well. The team gave him some time to spend with this family.

Tomas Vincour, called up from the Texas Stars on Sunday, did practice with the team today.
