Crawford impressed with Morrow's play

FRISCO -- Brenden Morrow has impressed plenty of people with his inspired play for Team Canada during the Olympics. That includes Stars coach Marc Crawford, who joked that Morrow is playing so well with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry that the Stars are trying to acquire both players at the trade deadline.

"He’s been just terrific," Crawford said about Morrow, the Stars' captain. "He’s been a heart and soul player for the Canadians. They are using them exactly as they thought they’d use him: as a grinding, hard forward that’s hard to play against that can create momentum. He’s done a great job killing penalties. He’s been an energy guy. He’s with Getzlaf and Perry and he's really complemented those players."

Morrow scored a goal in Canada's 3-2 win over Slovakia and garnered praise from the announcing crew on CNBC as well. There's no question he's played well for Team Canada.

I asked Crawford if he expects to see a rejuvenated Morrow when he returns to the Stars next week. Crawford said he spoke with Team Canada coach Mike Babcock and told him he thought Morrow was playing his best hockey the two weeks prior to the Olympics.

"Even though he's played well, his biggest minute game has been, what, 13 minutes, so I'm hopeful that he continues to move upwards and onward," Crawford said. "He's played really well, and exactly as you would expect him to play. He's hit, he's been forceful, he's changed momentum, and he's done a great job killing penalties."
