About the Stars
The Stars had an eight-game points streak come to an end with a 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings at American Airlines Center Sunday. After the Stars tied the game with 42.1 seconds remaining, the Kings won it with a goal with 20.8 seconds left.
“It was a tough loss the way we battled back,” said Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas. “We’ve got to be able to close it and get it to overtime. It happened and there is nothing we can do now. We’ve got to focus on the next one.”
Stars coach Marc Crawford said he’ll continue to go with goaltender Kari Lehtonen, who has started ten straight and 19 of the last 21 games for Dallas.
Injuries: F Adam Burish (lower body) is out.
About the Sharks
The Sharks lost 6-3 at Chicago Monday night. The loss ran the Sharks’ winless streak to three games (0-1-2) and dropped them to 1-2-2 over their past five games.
"If I was going to sum up the game: They skated and we glided," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said. "They were hard on the boards, we were soft. They were determined at the net. We played 'I hope' around the net. We were looking for a win the easy way. I don't know why we chose that route tonight, but it's not the recipe we've followed for success."
The Sharks led 2-1 after one period, but were outscored 5-1 in the second. Antti Niemi got the start, but was pulled in the second. Antero Niittymaki played the rest of the game and made his first appearance since going out of the lineup with groin injuries in the middle of January. Niittymaki stopped 14 of 16 shots.
