The October junior welterweight brawl between Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado was one of the two best fights of 2011 (along with Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez IV). The atmosphere at the Home Depot Center was electric as the crowd of 7,665 fans cheered the mayhem until Rios scored the seventh-round TKO.
Now the fans will have a chance to see the rematch, which is set for March 30 (HBO) at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas as Rios and Alvarado will duke it out for a vacant interim 140-pound title.
As soon as Top Rank announced the fight on Wednesday, fight fans shot me dozens of tweets asking about ticket availability. Here's the lowdown on tickets, which Top Rank released Thursday: They go on sale Friday at 3 p.m. ET and are priced at $250, $150, $100 and $50 (not including applicable service charges).
Tickets are limited to eight per person and will be available at Ticketmaster locations and select Smith's Food and Drug Centers and Ritmo Latino. They can also be purchased (with a credit card) by calling Mandalay Bay (877-632-7400) or Ticketmaster (800-745-3000), or by hitting their websites (www.MandalayBay.com and www.Ticketmaster.com).
