Morning Roar: Ansah tabbed for breakout

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Throughout the preseason, Detroit Lions coaches have lauded what they believe Ezekiel Ansah will become in the team's defense.

They've called him a force. They've insisted he would slide in fine once he was activated from the PUP list, which he was last week, and caught up to the defensive scheme. They are clearly expecting a lot out of him, as witnessed by some of what Jim Caldwell and Teryl Austin said about him Friday.

They aren't the only ones thinking Ansah is headed for big things.

Colleague Mike Sando listed 50 players he thinks are primed for breakout seasons and only one Detroit player, Ansah, showed up on the list. Sando listed him as the No. 12 player. He thinks will have a breakout year and in Ansah's case, that means big things.

"The bar for a breakout has been set high, in other words, but that is to be expected for the fifth overall choice in the 2013 draft class," Sando wrote. "A shoulder injury has sidelined Ansah at times this offseason, but he's healthier now and could be on the verge of much bigger things."
