Lions move Michael Williams from TE to OT

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions' glut at tight end just became a little bit thinner.

On the Lions' official roster, the team is now listing Michael Williams as an offensive tackle instead of tight end. He played tight end at Alabama and was listed as one during his rookie season with Detroit. Williams spent last season on injured reserve, though, with an injured hand.

Williams is going to have to put on some weight at tackle, though. He is listed at 6-foot-6, 270 pounds -- 10 pounds lighter than any other tackle.

Williams will now fight for a roster spot with Corey Hilliard, Cornelius Lucas, A.J. Dalton and J.B. Shugarts as likely depth behind starters Riley Reiff and LaAdrian Waddle.

At tight end, the Lions now have five players: Eric Ebron, Brandon Pettigrew, Joseph Fauria, Jordan Thompson and Jacob Maxwell.
