NEW ORLEANS -- It took three weeks from the time Calvin Johnson first got in range of another 1,000-yard season, but the receiver finally crossed the threshold for the sixth straight season and seventh time in his career.

It came in the first quarter on a 19-yard pass from Matthew Stafford.

Johnson seemed poised to reach 1,000 yards last week against St. Louis, but only had one reception.

"It's expected of myself to do those things," Johnson said recently. "Not just for me, but my teammates, that we be productive and as long as we're on the field, we're going to surpass that mark."

Johnson entered the game 19 yards shy of the 1,000-yard mark. In passing 1,000 yards, Johnson also moved into 28th place all-time in receiving yards, passing former Denver receiver Rod Smith (11,389). Johnson entered the game with 11,386 yards. Johnson was at 11,405 receiving yards after that catch.

Johnson has had 1,000-yard seasons every year since 2009, when he had 984 yards in 14 games.
