Playoff Picture: Detroit Lions Week 17

Each week from here to the end of the season, we will assess Detroit’s standing in the NFC North and NFC wild-card races.

And as of now, the Lions are in the hunt in both situations.

DETROIT

Record: 11-4

Remaining opponents record: 11-4

Seed as of now: No. 2

Games left: at Green Bay.

NFC NORTH

GREEN BAY

Record: 11-4

Remaining opponents record: 11-4

Games left: Detroit

Seed as of now: No. 6

Lions interests: Simple. If the Lions win or tie Green Bay on Sunday, they win the division. In most scenarios, this means Detroit would be the No. 1 or No. 2 seed. Lose to Green Bay and the Lions wrap up the No. 6 seed and a likely trip to Dallas.

NFC: TOP SEED/BYE

SEATTLE

Record: 11-4

Seed as of now: No. 1

Remaining opponents record: 6-9

Games left: at St. Louis

What needs to happen for the Lions to get the No. 1 seed: The Lions need to beat Green Bay and have Seattle lose to or tie St. Louis and Arizona to lose to or tie San Francisco.

DALLAS

Record: 11-4

Remaining opponents record: 4-11

Games left: at Washington

Seed as of now: No. 3

Lions interests: The Lions hold the tiebreaker over Dallas. If Detroit beats Green Bay, then it would be ahead of the Cowboys.

ARIZONA

Record: 11-4

Remaining opponents record: 7-8

Games left: San Francisco

Seed as of now: No. 5 seed

Lions interests: The Lions cannot pass Arizona in a wild-card or top seed situation if they have the same record.
