Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson has probably been viewed by many fantasy owners as a disappointment this season. The first-round selection (ESPN average live drafts) has struggled at times with both performance and health. Currently, 172 people are ahead of him on the season-long Player Rater.
But he didn’t struggle this past weekend. Donaldson homered among his three hits on Friday at Minnesota, then homered twice among his four hits Saturday. In his first two at-bats Sunday -- you guessed it -- he hit baseballs over the fence in both. Donaldson’s huge statistical weekend raised his season batting average to .268, which is still not great, but those 30 home runs certainly are.
