Hop, skip and jump to world championships

Of the 14 American skaters competing in the World Figure Skating Championships in London, Ontario, six train in the suburban Detroit area, which makes the 140ish-mile trip an easy hop over the border. The sextuplets who won’t be adding much to their frequent-flier mileage include two pairs from Canton, Mich., -- Meryl Davis and Charlie White and Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani -- and Madison Chock and Evan Bates, who train in Novi, Mich.
