Candace Parker paved the way

Before there was Brittney, there was Candace. Brittney Griner’s record three-dunk, one-tweet performance on Tuesday night against Florida State in the second round of the women’s NCAA tournament is one to ship to your memory bank. But it was back on March 19, 2006, in the first round of the tournament, when Candace Parker officially arrived. The redshirt freshman became the first woman to dunk in an NCAA tournament game, and she did it twice in a 102-54 win over Army. Parker finished her college career with seven dunks; Griner has 18 and counting.
